Govt will soon enforce Bezbaruah panel’s proposals: Rijiju
GURGAON, Oct 18: Assuring that no stone will be left unturned to stop racist attacks against people from Northeast, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today said the Centre will soon implement recommendations of Bezbaruah committee formed to look into the issue.
The Minister also said an exclusive helpline will be set up of for Northeast people living in Gurgaon.
"The Home Ministry will implement recommendations of the committee headed by M P Bezbaruah, that has looked into various concerns of the people of the Northeast region living in different parts of India, especially metropolis," said Rijiju here.
The Minister was here to review the law and order situation following an attack on three youths from Nagaland by locals on Wednesday night.

He said he has already met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue and the "government of India is 100 per cent committed to not allow repeat of such incidents."

He claimed that his ministry and the people of NE region are "satisfied with civil and police administration of Gurgaon for their quick and right reactions and actions on the recent incident."
The Minister said he has approved setting up of an exclusive helpline for the people of Northeast living in Gurgaon.
"If the helpline will prove to be beneficial in checking such incidents, it will be replicated across metro cities where people from Northeast region live in the country," he said.

ADC to governor declared ‘absconder’
ITANAGAR, Oct 18: A Special Forces officer, who was serving as an Aide de Camp (ADC) to the Arunachal Pradesh Governor, has been declared an "absconder" by the Indian Army after he went missing while on a vacation in Spain in August.
Army sources said that Major Sharyf Bhonsle had gone to Spain allegedly without informing the authorities concerned about it.
He had taken leave on June 23 and was supposed to report back on duty on August 18 but he did not, they said.
Initial inputs suggested that he was taking part in adventure games and had injured himself, but there was no information after that, the sources said.
The Indian embassy in Madrid was also roped in but the officer could not be found, they said.
The sources said his family as well as his unit did not have any information about him.
Following this, an Army Court of Inquiry was set up at the Para Regimental Centre, Bangalore, which declared him an absconder, the sources said.
The case will now be handed over to the police in Arunachal, where he was posted, or in Pune, where he hailed from, the sources said.
They said that the officer had not sought clearances from the Military Intelligence (MI) as is the rule for all serving officers to travel abroad.
The Army officer was on deputation with Government of Arunachal for the last one year. He was from the same Para unit of the Special Forces as was Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma during his tenure with the Army.

Two arrested in Jang rape and murder case
TAWANG, Oct 18: In a major breakthrough, Tawang police arrested two prime suspects Babu Soren, 20, and Babu Hazda alias Babu Munda, 22, both from Assam in connection with the suspected rape and murder of a local woman in Tawang last month.
Police found the body of Rinchin, a casual labourer under OC, 90 RCC, BRO, on September 27 at Pangi labour camp, 48 kms from Jang.
Under the close supervision of Kesang Norbu, OC, SB cum CI (P), the fugitives were apprehended by a team led by SI Anand Mandal, OC, PS Jang, from Pudumani village under the jurisdiction of Balipara police station in Assam.

SAGALEE, Oct 18: Arunachal Pradesh Building and Others Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) chairman, Nyamar Karbak said that no development is possible without workers. He was addressing a huge gathering at the mega awareness campaign cum registration of workers programme organized by the board at Sagalee in Papum Pare district today.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of the workers community in the nation building, the APB&OCWWB chairman said that to provide better health, livelihood and education to workers’ children are prime objectives of the board. The board is committed to provide better facilities and work for the welfare of the labour community, Karbak added. He further appealed the workers to get registered themselves to avail all the benefits being provided by the board. Education minister visits proposed site for establishment of govt. Polytechnic College
ZIRO, Oct 18: Education Minister Tapan Taloh visited the proposed site for establishment of Govt. Polytechnic College at Jugo, Lower Subansiri district today.
On the occasion, Taloh directed the executing department not to compromise on the building quality as infrastructures created are our assets and should cater to our needs for a longer period. He also directed the department to ensure the provision for a playground in the campus.

planned at Itanagar on 20 Feb 2012. Further inquiries revealed that we were to plan
a petal drop by a helicopter and execute a flypast by a three aircraft Sukhoi-
The next day, we visited Itanagar in a helicopter. We carried hand held Global Positioning System sets, binoculars, handycam and maps of the area. After a meeting with the Organising Party including the Chief Organiser, DC and SP, we visited the actual site of the event i.e. Indira Gandhi Park at Itanagar. Study of the site helped us to determine the flypast direction for maximum appeal to the VIPs/Dais/Audience, ascertain safety in terms of the many vertical towers, high rise buildings and hills in the area. In this case, the fighter flypast was planned to coincide with the moment of the Chief Guest declaring the Arunachal Day celebrations Open.
We carried out a detailed briefing for the flypast. We planned to carry out one
four minute orbit at a point north of Behali. This was required to cater for any
timing changes. After the orbit, we were to head for the Initial Point (IP). The
IP was a point in the valley south west of Itanagar about 30 km away. The timings
were worked backwards from the planned time over the dais up to the final second.
From the IP it was a straight run in of 2 minutes till the dais on a north easterly
heading at a speed of 900 km/h. The first flypast was planned to be a level flypast
in front of the dais. The first flypast would be followed by a second flypast after

ITANAGAR, Oct 18: The Richa Sangcha Farmers Club under Paki Panchayat under Mengio circle in Papum Pare has requested the state Govt to extend all possible help so that they continue their agricultural activities like cardamom cultivation.
The Richa Sangcha Farmers Club was established in 2010. At the initial stage they were clueless and had no knowledge of cardamom cultivation. But their strong desire and hard labour has made their cardamom gardens bear fruits within three years. The cardamom garden now brings smile on the face of farmers who are expecting to reap the fruits of their hard labour very soon. However, without any guidance and financial help it is almost impossible to continue the farm activities.
8 killed in road mishap

ITANAGAR, Oct 18: Eight people were killed and three were critically injured in a major road accident on October 16 last near 100 meters point beyond Tohangam, 35 km away from Tezu township.
“The eight people including the driver were killed on the spot, while the critically injured three were referred to Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh who are now said to be stable,” said DSP Tezu Guni Pertin.

ITANAGAR, Oct 18: The coordination meeting between Heads of Department and Panchayat leaders of Sangdupota circle was held at Sandupota yesterday.
ZPM Gollo Takam questioned the HoDs for not staying at Sangdupota despite availability of quarters and offices and requested them to stay at Sangdupota for the convenience of the public.

Allegation rebutted
ITANAGAR, Oct 18: The Urban Development and Housing department Capital Complex division has rebutted the allegation of corruption in procurement of 18 numbers of Tata Ace sanitation vehicles under the JnNURM scheme.
RTI activist Yukar Tara had lodged a complaint to the Chief Secretary cum Chief Vigilance Officer alleging corruption in the purchase of sanitation vehicles by the Deputy Director, UD and Housing Dept, Capital Complex division which was published as news item in this daily on Oct 18.
Terming the allegations levelled against the division arbitrary, baseless, uncalled for and without iota of truth, the deputy director UD and Housing, Capital division, Gyamar Tachung clarified that all the 18 sanitation vehicles procured through NIT have been handed over along with all the relevant original documents to the IMC on Sept 22 last.

HVYA demands erection of BSNL tower at Khyong
ITANAGAR, Oct 18: Hali Valley Youths Association (HVYA) has urged the BSNL authority to erect a mobile tower at Khyong to bring 33 villages under Manchal circle of Anjaw district under network coverage.
Describing the problems faced by the people of the area due to lack of telecommunication facility, HVYA rued that the BSNL authority has not yet taken any interest to provide mobile service despite repeated pleas by the people of the area and Anjaw district BJP unit.
HVYA stated that people of the said areas have been living in a state of incommunicado due to absence of telecommunication facility.
The association appealed to the authority concerned to set up the tower at earliest for the welfare of over 5000 people living in remote villages.
